Hope Bridge Services has been providing Employment Services to individuals in recovery since 1996. We have served in excess of 1600 clients from a variety of communities including: Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, Surrey and Langley. As the province moves towards it’s new BC Employment Model we are dedicated to transferring our knowledge to ESC Service Providers across the Province. We currently provide Professional Development Workshops customized for organizations such as:
- Impact of Substance Abuse on Career Planning
- Career Planning for Successful Addiction Recovery
- Staff coaching – support staff in addressing substance misuse issues and/or employment planning for individuals negatively impacted by substance
We are currently in the process of developing a course that will combine a series of workshops, on-line learning and on the job coaching. The first pilot project is scheduled to start in September 2011. We are hoping to offer the course publically through out the Province starting in January of 2012.
Employability Assessments for Substance Impacted Individuals
In a safe, supportive environment an interview is conducted to assess the individual’s current state of employability. The outcome report provides the following information:
Identify if the client’s stress management and recovery maintenance skills provide a good foundation for employment success and if not provide referrals and/or activities to increase readiness
Identify any long-term effects of drugs the clients may be experiencing and assess how these symptoms could impact employability, when needed provide referrals and/or activities to improve readiness
Identify employment related triggers
Idenify other considerations for a Recovery Compatible Return to Work Action Plan.
Summarize outcomes in one page report
Assessment Cost: $200 which includes the tool, the interview assessment and outcome report (Interview 1-2 hours)
Qualifications: Certification by Hope Bridge Services, pre-requisite – minimum of certificate in Addictions, plus 2 years employment service experience
